Fellow Socialist Bernie Sanders would approve. As Bernie said, You don’t necessarily need a choice of 23 underarm spray deodorants when children are hungry in this country.”
Real Socialists don't use deodorant. That's what blood and children's tears are for. In Venezuela, the Socialist experiment is going brilliantly. Everything is being nationalized.
Venezuelan bakeries are the latest industry to find themselves in the cross-hairs of President Nicolas Maduro’s administration as bread lines grow in the capital Caracas.
The government has ordered bakers to use scarce supplies of flour to produce price-controlled loaves and said that only 10 percent can be used to make the unregulated, pricey treats loved by Venezuelans including cachitos -- a sort of croissant that can be stuffed with ham or cheese. The government dispatched price regulators to hundreds of bakeries in Caracas this week to make sure the order was being followed.
“There will be a political team for each bakery so that we have vigilance and permanent control over the 709 bakeries in Caracas,” Vice President Tareck El Aissami said on Sunday. “We’ve identified part of the conspiracies and sabotage” that had prevented bread reaching the people.
This was rhe sort of thing that FDR was doing. At least until the Supreme Court slapped his fascist NRA down. (Not the NRA we think of today.) When there are bread lines, you send in the troops. Then you nationalize the bakeries.
Tarek El-Aissimi is a Baathist holdover if you can believe that. And the solution to everything is to send political teams into all the bakeries. And then nationalize them.
Due to out of control inflation, bakeries can't afford to sell bread at the government mandated price. The Socialist regime denies that inflation exists. The government tried to nationalize toilet paper with disastrous results. The Venezuelan people have been starving. And so instead of changing its economic policies, the narcosocialist regime is just eliminating the last vestiges of the free market.
While illegally using the judiciary to maintain its grip on power. (Remind you of anyone in this country?)
So far this year, Venezuela’s wheat imports are down 200,000 tons to 1.3 million tons as poor economic conditions crimp demand, the Foreign Agricultural Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its March report.
So there's no wheat and no way to even afford the bread. But... Forward!
Venezuela's government intends to continue surprise raids on bakeries to catch bakers it alleges are hoarding flour instead of making bread — even as lines of would-be customers snake out the bakery doors. "The bakeries are showing the authorities that they have no bread inventory," said Juan Crespo, president of Venezuela's Industrial Flour Union. "The government has to see the reality."
Leftists don't see reality. They shoot it in the head. They no platform it. They send it to a Gulag.
But you know who loves bread lines?
After Bernie Sanders visited the Marxist Sandanista regime in Nicaragua on a propaganda tour, he argued that the bread lines in major cities were a good thing. “American journalists talk about how bad a country is, that people are lining up for food. That is a good thing!”
