Noah Feldman, the most unpleasant person Obama didn't appoint to the Supreme Court, decided to use his Bloomberg perch to pander to progressive fantasies about impeaching President Trump. (Yes, that's a lot of Ps. But mind the Qs.)
The sitting president has accused his predecessor of an act that could have gotten the past president impeached. That’s not your ordinary exercise of free speech. If the accusation were true, and President Barack Obama ordered a warrantless wiretap of Donald Trump during the campaign, the scandal would be of Watergate-level proportions.
But if the allegation is not true and is unsupported by evidence, that too should be a scandal on a major scale. This is the kind of accusation that, taken as part of a broader course of conduct, could get the current president impeached.
Wait, so a public official accusing the President of the United States of an impeachable offense should be grounds for impeachment?
Hey, remember when you guys were constantly claiming that President Bush lied to get us into Iraq under false pretenses? Congratulations, you just got the whole Democrat Party removed from office. What little of it there is. But the rules are never the same for lefties as they are for Americans. (That's why Noah snuck the "broader" part in there.)
But about that scandal. We know that...
1. The NSA spied on Iran Deal opponents, including members of Congress, and passed along the data to the White House.
2. Obama spied on reporters.
3. A FISA request aimed at Trump's people came down the pike a month after he became the nominee and then in October for a little October Surprise.
If Republicans, and whatever handful of Democrats still believe we're a nation of laws instead of professional victims, actually manage to blow this one wide open, we aren't going to be talking impeachment here, but prison sentences.
And Noah's chances at sitting on the Sharia Supreme Court will drop down to the floor.
