Juan Thompson is not the man or organization responsible for the majority of bomb threats to Jewish organizations. He was however responsible for at least 8.
And there have been a variety of responses to the fact that the man charged with a number of the attacks was a black Muslim leftist. There has been virtually no coverage of the Muslim part, but it's been impossible to deny that Thompson doesn't fit the profile the media was hoping for.
The SPLC simply went into denial mode calling it a case of cyberstalking. But that's standard for the SPLC which not only ignores anything that doesn't fit its narrative, but actively strives to suppress it. The ADL, which was targeted by Thompson, has surprisingly provided better coverage, including focusing on Thompson's anti-Israel views. It may that being personally targeted got the ADL into gear. Steven Goldstein, the gay rights Twitter troll behind the Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect, a left-wing organization shamelessly hijacking Anne Frank's name, has been mostly uninterested.
Newsweek does have an interesting profile of Juan Thompson which claims that he seemed to have somewhat more moderate left-wing views and even liked Israel. Then he went full Marxist and anti-Semitic. There were frequent calls for a revolution and rants about Israel.
But, Thompson's Twitter account also claims that he converted to Islam.
Was his anti-Semitism motivated by his increasingly radical left-wing politics? Or Islam? Or both. Or, did he, like Alice Walker, embrace anti-Semitism, as a response to his relationship problems with a Jewish significant other?
It's an interesting question. One that the media won't explore. Even though Thompson was not the lead perpetrator of the bomb threats, the issue is already falling off the media radar. Once burned by a Muslim leftist in what was supposed to be an easy narrative, twice shy.
