ABC News' Jon Karl suggested that the media makes America great,
"A free press isn’t the enemy of America; it’s a big part of what makes America great," he said.
Is this really true? The Point's Fact Check investigates.
While the right to a free press is one of the things that makes America great, it should not be confused with the actual mainstream media which attempts to maintain an economic and political monopoly on the press.
There is nothing free about a trust of ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, AP, Reuters and other major news organizations attempting to lock in their privilege and power by excluding rivals from the press corps, attempting to censor them on social media with a "Fake News" crusade while maintaining a single point of view.
That is the opposite of a free press.
