We never heard much about Omar Mateen's wife because the media was busy trying to claim that the Islamic terrorist who killed 49 people in a gay nightclub in Orlando had some kind of secret gay identity. Talking about his wife would have ruined the "He's not an Islamic terrorist because he's gay" narrative.
But now the "lone wolf" ISIS terrorist's "Palestinian" wife has been arrested.
The charges against his wife, 30-year-old Noor Salman, included aiding and abetting his attempts to support ISIS, as well as obstruction of justice
The "aiding and abetting" part confirms that Omar is no longer a lone wolf.
In April 2016, Mateen and Salman took their 3-year-old son to Walt Disney World, but their behavior reportedly was alarming enough for Disney officials to have contacted the FBI to alert them that Mateen and Salman appeared to be scouting the theme park as a venue for a potential attack. The family went to another Disney property, Disney Springs, that June.
The lone wolf is largely a myth. Muslim terrorists are only characterized as such in the aftermath of their attacks. And the whole "Omar was secretly gay" narrative was meant to distract us from some obvious questions.
Salman had allegedly admitted to the FBI that she had accompanied him to scout out targets while claiming that she had wanted to prevent the attack. She went with him to scout out the Pulse club and supposedly even to buy ammunition.
It's taken long enough, but an arrest was finally made.
