Why Would Hillary Clinton Want to be Mayor?

It used to be that executive experience was a prerequisite for the White House. Hillary Clinton ran for the job based on a brief period in the Senate... and nothing else.

Now there's a push on to have Hillary Clinton run for Mayor of New York City. The sane question would be, Why?

New York City is a big city. But it's not much of a consolation prize after losing the White House. And it's also a fairly thankless job as her lazy, shiftless predecessor is discovering. Why would Hillary really want to spend the next four years dealing with a whole lot of small time political wrangling?

And if Hillary still wants to take a third unlikely shot at the White House, this wouldn't be the platform to do it. Nor would it bring in much cash, despite the current mayor's slush fund.

It would be a step down in every sense. And yet clearly there are people in Hillary's camp who are pushing this.

The advantage is obvious. It's an important job with a national status that is hers for the asking. Most New Yorkers are sick of the current mayor. But no Republican candidate has emerged. And Hillary likes easy elections that she can't possibly lose.
