Remember when senators refusing to perform their "constitutional duty" to approve a president's nominee for partisan reasons was an utterly horrifying act that threatened our democracy? It was only a few months ago when the left was shocked and outraged that Republicans would do such a thing to Barack Obama. Now they're eager to do it to Donald Trump.
Because consistency, ethics and principles are the hobgoblins of small minds.
“It’s hard for me to imagine a nominee that Donald Trump would choose that would get Republican support that we could support,” the New York Democrat told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Tuesday night.
Asked if he would do his best to hold the seat open, Schumer responded, “Absolutely.”-
So we now have a lunatic Dem plan to keep Scalia's seat open and the Supreme Court deadlocked for some four to eight years. And that's being optimistic. But Schumer is telling CNN that he won't obstruct for the sake of obstructionism. While throwing red meat to Maddow's audience by saying that he'll be doing just that.
