After yammering incessantly for the worse part of a decade, our Scold-in-Chief promises to actually be quiet for a while. Is that even possible?
Obama's first acts out of office, however, will be lower-profile. He said he'll focus on writing a book and self-analyzing his time in office.
"I have to be quiet for a while. And I don't mean politically, I mean internally. I have to still myself," he said. "You have to get back in tune with your center and process what's happened before you make a bunch of good decisions."
Maybe there will be lots of meditation. He'll get in touch with his ying and yang.
But does anyone seriously believe that? I'm sure that his PR people have calculated the optimum time for him to lower his public profile before going on another tour.
And that's it.
Obama is already laying out his plans for a left-wing organization to do community organizing. He's compulsively doing appearances and he loves the attention too much to stop. You can no more imagine him retiring to live a quiet life... than you can imagine Bill Clinton doing the same thing. Both men are narcissists who are convinced that the world needs them, who live off flattery and whose post-political business plan is heavily dependent on monetizing their brand.
Obama will find his "center" and then start fundraising off it.
