Twitter is Imploding

The worst decision Twitter ever made was to transform itself into a Tumblr safe space for leftists. Facebook, which recently gave in to the left and allowed partisan leftist sites like FactCheck and Politfact to determine what links you can share, ought to take note. It's not just that Twitter's stock is a mess. Its top people keep heading for the exit.

Twitter's CTO is gone. As is its VP of product. This is not a good sign for a company that still lacks anything meaningful to move forward with.

Its COO and head of media left last month. An exodus of that many top people in areas related to core functions within two months looks a whole like a crisis. A crisis that is hardly being covered.

Twitter has cut 9 percent of its workforce. It desperately looked for buyers. Now it looks like the walls are closing in.

The embrace of political correctness by Twitter, its determination to censor users, didn't finish off the site, but it certainly did not help. The arc of the internet has trended toward open not closed platforms. And Twitter has become a place for media types to chat with each other about trending topics, for trolls to yell at them and for spammers to do their thing. It's not viable or sustainble.

If Twitter wants to survive, it needs to look past Jack Dorsey and find someone with a real vision.
