Bad Actor to Leave Acting to Rant About Trump and Brexit

Bad news for lovers of bad acting. Michael Sheen is leaving acting to concentrate on his first love, ranting about the dangers of right-wing extremism.

Your first response is probably, "Who?" That's perfectly understandable. Sheen is being described as the star of Frost/Nixon... a movie from 2008. Since then he's been in Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, he voiced the White Rabbit in the Alice in Wonderland video game and he starred in Masters of Sex. In short, you've never heard of him for very good reason.

Michael Sheen is to give up acting at the height of his career to fight the rise of the far-right populism.

The height of his career indeed. Why he was just the voice of McTwisp in Alice Through the Looking Glass. (Yes, "What?" is the correct response.)

The Frost/Nixon star said he would be leaving Hollywood to order to commit himself to political activism and fight "demagogic, fascistic" politics that he says has engulfed the West over recent years.

If he's half as successful at that as he was at acting, UKIP will be the dominant political party in the UK within 2 years.

Sheen added that the election of Donald Trump had compelled him to take action. "It's not going to look like this in 10 years' time. Everything has shifted. The dice are being rolled again,” he said.

Profound words of wisdom.

The actor is to return to Port Talbot in south Wales to co-ordinate the activities and says the support of his home town for Brexit is one of the reasons he has decided to begin his activism back where he began.

I'm sure they'll be hugely interested to hear from a prat who headed off to Hollywood before getting bored and returning to his old hometown to lecture them on what a bunch of rotten fascists they are.

The actor, 47, currently starring in the science-fiction film Passengers, will leave the actress and comedian Sarah Silverman, his partner of two years, and his family in Los Angeles says the move could put their relationship at risk.

Can't Sarah Silverman join him in yelling at people in Wales about what fascists they are? I can't think of anything they would welcome more than that. And we would finally be rid of her.

Also by "starring" in Passengers, the article means that he plays the robot bartender.

Yes Michael Sheen, huge star of a movie, where he easily eclipses Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence, in which he plays a robot bartender, has decided to leave acting. And Sarah Silverman. I can't say that anyone could blame him.

He said: "It will be a big change for how people relate to me. Once I'm in, I'm fully in, and this is big. As soon as you start to be effective, then people try to crush you, because it's dangerous."

Or they could just go on laughing at you.
