Ever since Republican Federal judge John Roll was murdered in a shooting by a mentally unstable man, which also wounded Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, the media decided to ignore the murder of Roll and focused entirely on Giffords in a crazed orgy of cynical political exploitation.
First the media blamed Sarah Palin for the shooting for reasons so stupid that not even a liberal will defend them today. (There was a map with a bunch of targets of politicians to unseat in elections. Yes it was that stupid.)
Fresh off that pile of steaming garbage, the media turned Giffords and her creepy husband into saints because they went on to campaign against the Second Amendment.
Their campaign went absolutely nowhere despite multiple names and gimmicks. So now what's left of this clown act is being repurposed by Hillary Clinton to attack Bernie Sanders. Gun control is the only issue where Hillary Clinton has a record that is reliably to the left of the Socialist senator, who had originally gotten into office thanks to the NRA.
And since about the only people who have paid attention to Gabrielle Giffords' show have been liberals, the plan by Hillary to use her against Bernie Sanders makes sense. Especially since it capitalizes on Hillary's core demographic, idiots.
There's one problem though. Bernie Sanders is hardly Ted Cruz. He was just trying to work with a demographic of rural Democrats. Much like Giffords used to.
His NRA score was a D. Giffords' NRA score was a C.
In other words, the NRA rated Gabrielle Giffords higher than it did Bernie Sanders.
Giffords was supposed to be a weapon aimed at Republicans and a handful of holdout conservative Democrats. Instead she's being used against the most left-wing Democratic candidate. There's a certain irony in that.
The cynical clown act is reaching its final stage.
"Most of the people running for president talk a lot about how tough they are. But most of them have shown they aren't tough enough to stand up to the gun lobbyists. Nobody knows better than us that talk is cheap," the couple says in their endorsement of Clinton.
Oh it's not that cheap.
The treasurer of Giffords SuperPAC, Americans for Responsible Solutions, is Steve Mostyn, a major lawyer with all sorts of interests. He's also a major donor. And he co-founded the Ready for Hillary PAC, portions of which were rolled into the Hillary 2016 campaign.
Not cheap at all.
