How does one measure infinity anyway? Can one subtract anything from infinity and yet have it be less than infinite? That's a fascinating question being asked of America's greatest living failed presidential candidate, failed diplomat and failed everything... John Forbes Kerry.
US Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Geneva to try to close a deal with Russia on a ceasefire in Syria, but officials warned that the US would soon abandon the effort if the latest round of talks didn't produce an agreement
"We are going to try but our patience is not infinite," a senior administration official traveling with Kerry said."We are not going to keep going if we don't reach a conclusion relatively soon. We need to be moving very close to a deal and at some point we need to reach that deal."
At some point. Some anonymous official.
I'm sure the Russians are trembling at being informed that the patience of the buffoon they've been playing like an electric harp is not infinite.
Threats don't come any more threatening than that.
Let's summarize.
The Russians have been playing Obama, Kerry and the rest of the "Peace in Our Time" clown show with worthless negotiations while trying to win the war on their own terms. After years of this, of being humiliated by the Russians, outwitted by them and used by them... some anonymous official informs the press that our patience is not infinite.
No it's not infinite. But it's pretty close.
The Russians suckered Obama and Kerry on Syrian WMDs. They got Iran nuclear's program through the door. They're successfully winning in Syria. They're winning in Iraq. So why exactly do they need Kerry's deal? They don't. By the time Kerry's patience finally runs out, it'll all be over but the spinning.
Senior administration officials briefing reporters aboard Kerry's plane en route to Geneva said some gaps had been narrowed but others remained.
"Today we got to the point where we thought it would be useful for them to sit down again," one senior official said of Kerry and Lavrov.
But the officials tried to temper expectations that Friday's talks could resolve all of the issues so that a deal could be announced, saying it could take another session.
"We can't guarantee in any way at this point that we are on the cusp of finishing. This is an iterative process. It is highly technical, highly complicated and there are a number of issues we are going to continue to have to discuss with the Russians tomorrow and maybe beyond tomorrow, the official said "That said, If we didn't think there remained a possibility of getting things done, we wouldn't be going back to Geneva.
And then you would do what?
Recommend military options that Obama already rejected? Double down on arming the rebels... which Obama is not fond of and which doesn't work? Go to the UN? Or you can go back to letting the Russians slap you around for another few months because at least then it looks like you're doing something.
This is what being weak, worthless and impotent is like. This is SmartPower (TM). This is Nobel Peace Prize winning stuff.
