Hillary Clinton is a bad liar. This is yet another reminder of that simple and inescapable fact.
Hillary Clinton told ABC News' David Muir today that her husband, former President Bill Clinton, should not have to step down before the election from his position at the Clinton Foundation.
"I don't think there are conflicts of interest," the Democratic presidential nominee said in a joint interview today with running mate Sen. Tim Kaine. "I know that that's what has been alleged and never proven. But nevertheless, I take it seriously."
Hillary is taking it very seriously. She just doesn't think it's an issue.
Also, it's been "alleged, but never proven", which is the standard response of defense attorneys for mob bosses and the Clintons to anything. It means, "You can't prove we did it."
This is what sorts of creatures the Clintons are. Also, note that Hillary says she doesn't think, rather than offering a flat out denial. She's a lawyer and this is yet more hedging.
"I'm very proud of the work that the Clinton Foundation has done," Clinton said. "It's a world-renowned charity because of the work that my husband started and many, many people helped him with. ... He started this great work. He has made it his life's work, after the presidency. And he has said, if I am so fortunate enough to be elected, he will not be involved. And I think that is appropriate."
There's no problem with the Clinton Foundation. It's an amazing charity. There are no conflicts of interest... yet if Hillary wins, then Bill won't be involved with it.
Why?
If there's nothing wrong with the Clinton Bribe Network, why have Bill leave it? If there is a conflict of interest, shouldn't he be leaving already?
The Clintons keep hedging their bets. They don't want to give up the Foundation until they secure the White House.
Clinton said today that no decision she'd ever made as secretary of state had been "influenced by anybody."
"I feel very good about the work of the foundation. I feel very good about my service as secretary of state. No decision I ever made was influenced by anybody."
By anybody? Really. They say, no man is an island, but apparently Hillary Clinton existed entirely in her own separate universe.
