One Anti-American racist endorses another. The difference is in how slick he is. Even as he gives a thumbs up to behavior that even many liberals would frown on, he packages it in liberal pieties about the right to disagree and how important it is for young people to be involved in politics.
These clichés are not trotted out to defend the KKK or anyone he truly disagreed with. They are an attempt by a radical pretending to be a moderate to make another radical more acceptable to moderates.
These same defenses of Kaepernick’s racism and hatred for this country don't come into play when someone gets purged for questioning gay marriage or men using women's locker rooms. Then suddenly it's a teachable moment in silencing the wrong sort of opinions.
"As a general matter, when it comes to the flag, and the national anthem, and the meaning it holds for our men and women in uniform and those who fought for us, that is a tough thing for them to get past, to then hear what his deeper concerns are. But I don’t doubt his sincerity, based on what I’ve heard. I think he cares about some real, legitimate issues that have to be talked about. And if nothing else, what he’s done is he’s generated more conversation around some topics that need to be talked about.”
Soldiers have to "get past" their feelings about the flag to listen to a millionaire spoiled brat's hatred of America.
And of course he's generating conversation about topics that need to be talked about. Like how racist and evil America is.
