We talk a lot about media bias. And the media certainly is very biased. But it's not universally so. There are journalists with standards. But the left makes a point of crushing any notion of objectivity.
Media bias is manufactured by a leftist pressure culture. And the age of Obama and the internet has made that pressure culture public.
The current attacks by the media on the AP story about the Clinton Foundation is a typical and creepy example.
The phenomenon, now increasingly commonplace, sees the media piling on when a negative and damaging story about a leftist political figure appears somewhere in the press. The attacks by HuffPo, WaPo, CNN and numerous others on the AP are also typical in that they bypass the substance of the allegations and spend most of their time on attacking the style in which they were presented.
This is a strong signal that they cannot dispute the facts, all they can do is spin them.
The troubling aspect of this phenomenon is how mainstream it has become. It used to be that this was the sort of thing that Vox, Slate and lefty blogs would do. Now it's just mainstream media behavior.
Consider what happened to Bob Woodward when he reported intimidation by the White House. Instead of rising in his defense, the media howled abuse at him and silenced him. If Nixon had Obama's media backing, Watergate would never have been an issue.
Now Hillary is the beneficiary of media privilege. And the attacks on AP show how media bias is regulated and enforced within the industry.
